COLBURN, Rose Veronica (Poirier), 90 – Debert, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2018 in Debert Court, Debert, N.S.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Moise and Katie Mae (Deveaux) Poirier.

Her greatest goal in life was to raise and care for her family including her grandchild­ren and was known for always being there when needed. She loved to hook rugs, quilt, sew and knit. Rose was kind and generous to all who crossed her pathway and faced the difficulti­es of life with a smile. She will be missed by the many folk who knew and loved her.

She is survived by daughters, Catherine Layes, Merland, N.S., Marie Mackinnon, Fort Mcmurray, Alta., Irene Bowie, Lower Harmony; sons, Ivan ( Patty), Antigonish County, Wayne (Lorelei), Truro; sisters, Margaret Finn, Mary Ann White, Anne Po- irier; brothers, Eli (Theresa) and Paul; several grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren, great, great, grandchild­ren; many nieces nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents she was predecease­d by her first husband, Francis Macdonald and second husband, Ira Colburn; daughter, Veronica Scott; son Joseph in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 1-2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Iain Macdonald officiatin­g. Interment in the spring at Collingwoo­d-wyvern Cemetery, Cumberland Co. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Associatio­n.
