Kevin Resop Hometown: St. Petersburg, Fla. Position: Goaltender Number: 47 Six-foot-three, 215 pounds

Age: 20

Bearcat-of-the-week honours go to veteran junior goalie Kevin Resop.

Kevin manned the pipes in the opening four games of the Round 1 series between Truro and Yarmouth.

He has produced stellar performances in all games as the series is deadlocked at 2-2.

He posted a 1-0 shutout in Game 2 and a 4-0 shutout in Game 4.

Goaltending is never more important than in playoff hockey where a season is very much on line.

He and his counterpart at the other end appear determined to make this a tight, but long, playoff series. They’ve been their respective team’s best players.

Kevin got his hockey start on the streets of his home town before donning the blades with the Elleton Eels.

He soon moved on to the Tampa Bay Lightning 96 “AAA” Program. Next up was a two-year stint with the Shattuck St. Mary’s program.

As a goalie with the Boston Jr. Bruins (U18) in 2013-2014 he was named goaltender of the year in the USPHL (1.84 GAA). The Halifax Mooseheads drafted him in 2014 and over the next three years, he played 79 Moosehead games.

The Bearcats obtained his junior playing rights for the OCN Blizzard in July.
