Eastern Star holds special meeting

Approximat­ely 70 Order of the Easter Star members met recently at the Masonic Centre, Bible Hill, for the official visit of Worthy Grand Matron Christine Mcgillivra­y and Arnold Dempsey, Worthy Grand Patron, of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Prior to the meeting, a roast pork dinner was prepared and served by members of Truro #43 Lodge. Tables were decor- ated with the Fun Symbols of the WGM and WGP.

A presentati­on was also made to a member of the Bible Hill Fire Brigade First Responders.

Following the introducti­on of Grand Chapter Officers and committee members for 2017-18 several presentati­ons and awards were given. Members had been selling tickets for the WGM and WGP’S Special Project for the Year which is Camp Brigadoon for Kids. A donation was made to this worthy cause.

A Grand Representa­tive ap- pointment to Texas was given to secretary, Ann Wight, and a Rob Morris Membership Jewel was given to Sister Joyce Roode from General Grand Chapter.

It was Honor Night for Sister Heather Boyd, Grand Martha of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Visiting Chapter Marthas were presented as well.

Following the meeting fellowship and refreshmen­ts were enjoyed, which included a birthday cake to mark Myrtle Chapter’s 71st birthday.
