Public input wanted on strategic direction
Community input is being sought by the Truro and Colchester Partnership for Economic Prosperity, which is aimed at developing a Regional Economic Development Strategy.
The partnership officially formed late in 2017 and is tasked with improving economic development and supporting business growth in the Colchester region.
“Developing a regional strategy requires a regional approach,” partnership chairman Mark Wood said, in a news release.
“We need the current pulse of our region’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats,” he said. “Getting input and thoughtful, evidence-based ideas from our communities across the Colchester region is essential.”
A series of more than eight community focus groups have been planned to offer businesses and residents an opportunity to provide input. People may also submit information to the organization online.
The two-hour focus groups will be held between April 17 and May 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at various locations across the county, including Stewiacke, Bass River, Millbrook and Tatamagouche. Remaining sessions will take place within the Truro and Bible Hill region. Details can be accessed online via the Partnership’s website at www.tcpep.ca.
The partnership was established as a Regional Enterprise Network supported by the towns of Truro and Stewiacke, the County of Colchester, Millbrook First Nation and the business community through the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce and the province of Nova Scotia.
