Get ready for some “grease coast rock n’ roll.”

at’s how Andre Pettipas goodnaturedly describes the music of his group, Andre Pettipas and the Giants.

“When we do a live show, it is high energy,” Pettipas said.

Pettipas and company begin a four-show tour Friday, April 20 in Antigonish at the Split Crow Pub. Subsequent engagement are in Port Hawkesbury, New Glasgow and at the Belly Up BBQ and Grill in Truro. It’s part of the In Good Company mini-tour, as they perform with 90s pop-rock songbird Natalie Lynn, who invited them along.

“We have done some tunes with her before, so we didn’t hesitate,” Pettipas said.

e three-man group, which includes Pettipas’s brother, Travis, and Trenton native Marcus Cosh, formed in early 2015.

“I was home from Alberta for Christmas and I got a brain virus,” Pettipas said. The illness floored him for six months, during which time he “wrote a bunch.”

“I got a new outlook on life,” he said.

During his recovery, the Pettipas brothers started working on his new tunes. A short time later, on a Saturday night during a show at the Split Crow, he found the soonto-be new band’s drummer.

“He was a rock n’ roller,” Pettipas said of Cosh.

A few days later marked their rst rehearsal, then it was right into the recording studio.

“It all came together pretty quickly,” Pettipas said.

e band leader said they have “big plans” ahead, including the release of four new singles. With about 30 songs in the bank, the end goal is to release a full album.

“We are taking small steps,” he said.

An increased social media presence and the release of some videos are also on this summer’s to-do list.

ere will be live performances, including some dates in Sweden, which will coincide with the release of a single, The Swedish Motel. In early September, there will be shows in Alberta, Toronto and Saskatchewan.

“We pride ourselves on going 100 per cent and giving people a great show,” Pettipas said.
