Caledonian Show to play First United

e Caledonian Show will open its 2018 concert season with a performanc­e on April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sharon-st. John United Church, Stellarton.

That perfomranc­e will be followed by an enagement at First United Church in Truro.

Also performing at the Stellarton concert will be Retake, a four-part barbershop quartet, from Prince Edward Island, featuring Anne Crosby, Raye Trainor, Joanne Ings, and Shirley Mcguigan. Formed in 1999, the quartet’s repertoire includes songs from the 1950s, contempora­ry music, as well as Irish and Scottish tunes.

e Caledonian Show Dancers will be featured as well.

Four other concerts are scheduled during the next few months with the next performanc­e on Saturday, May 12 at the First United Church, Truro, at 1:30 p.m.; Halifax Central Library at 1:30 p.m. on June 3; at the Osprey Arts Centre, Shelburne, on June 23, at 7:30 p.m.; and at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, on June 24, at 2:30 p.m.

e Caledonian Orchestra was formed in 1993 and consists of some 35 musicians, from metro Halifax, Hants, Colchester, Cumberland, and Pictou counties as well as New Brunswick.
