Booshfest to be held in downtown Truro

-

Truro’s first Booshfest will bring entertainment, shopping, food and conversation to Truro on May 20.

The event is designed to celebrate female business owners and promote their services and products while having fun.

“It’s not about making money; it’s more about us getting together and supporting each other, and involving the town,” said Rebecca Lapointe, who owns Beck & Boosh. “It’s about being kind to ourselves and supporting each other.

“I love getting to know other female entrepreneurs. Every time we make contact it helps me and them. We give each other advice and support.”

Lapointe contacted businesses she works with and sells products from, and some of them suggested others. She soon had many who were interested, and Inglis Jewellers and Bryden Associates offered the use of their parking lots.

“I started my own business at festivals, so this is familiar” said Lapointe. “There are 18 businesses taking part, and there were more interested but the date wasn’t suitable for some and I ran out of room. I’m hoping this will be an annual event.”

Gazebo tents will be set up for the event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and include a petting farm, treats, prize draws, and a variety of businesses.
