Bible Hill Garden Club prepares for spring plant sale

When Vicki Smith moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia, she joined a club that connected her with three things she enjoys; gardening, traveling and socializing. She is now an enthusiastic member of the Bible Hill Garden Club.

“It’s fabulous,” she said. “We’re always doing something. We have wonderful speakers come in to our meetings every month, and we take trips. We rent a coach and go on tours, and look at beautiful gardens. We went to the south shore the first year I was here; last year we went to Moncton and Riverview, and this year we’re going to P.E.I. It’s so relaxing.”

The club also organizes local trips to look at gardens.

The Bible Hill Garden Club has about 70 members, and because they have such green thumbs they often have extra plants. These are sold at events such as the spring plant sale, which will be held on Saturday, May 26 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bible Hill Fire Hall.

The sale always includes a large variety of potted plants and shrubs, and sometimes trees.

The garden club also takes part in wreath making, community gardening, and in-school programs at elementary schools.

Anyone interested in learning more about the club is invited to drop by one of the meetings, which are held on the second Monday of each month, except January, at 7 p.m. at the Bible Hill Village Hall.
