-

The Northern AAA Subway Selects have announced the appointment of Craig Clarke as new head coach of the AAA female midget hockey club.

Long- time Subway coach Troy Reid will be stepping down this year but will remain with the organization as a consultant.

Northern Selects president Steve Halliday said Reid will be missed but the club is fortunate to have him stay on with the staff.

“Coach Reid has been a pioneer in developing female hockey here in Pictou County and has helped the program reach unprecedented heights in terms of female hockey success,” said Halliday.

“From multiple provincial titles over the years to an Atlantic title and an appearance at the Esso Cup this year, Troy’s dedication, knowledge and commitment always got the best out of his players.

According to Halliday, clarke brings a new vision for the upcoming season.

“Craig has an excellent hockey mind and has had great success in recent years in the female program.”

The team will be managed by Dana Landry who is staying on for a second year.

Other staff positions will be announced following the spring ID Camp scheduled for May 21.

Players can still register for the camp. It is open to all female midget- aged players born in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
