Female Midget AAA Selects name new coach

-

The Northern AAA Subway Selects have named Craig Clarke as head coach of the AAA female midget hockey team.

Long time Subways’ coach Troy Reid will be stepping down this year but will remain with the organization as a consultant.

"We are very pleased to welcome Craig Clarke who brings a new vision for the upcoming season" said Northern Selects president Steve Halliday.

"The team is very pleased to have him join our program at the head coach level. Craig has an excellent hockey mind and has had great success in recent years in the female program. We are very excited to have him on board this season."

The Selects thanked to Reid for his many years of dedicated service to female hockey in Pictou County.

“Coach Reid has been a pioneer in de- veloping female hockey here in Pictou County and has helped the program reach unprecedented heights in terms of female hockey success,” said Halliday.

The Selects program captured its firstever Atlantic Canadian title last month in St. John’s, N.L. and later appeared at the Esso Cup in Bridgewater, where they went 1-3-1 and barely missed out on the medal round at the national championship.

The club also announced that Dana Landry will remain as team manager for a second year and other staff positions will be announced following the spring identification camp, which is scheduled for May 21.

There is still time for interested players to register for the camp. It is open to all female Midget aged players born in 2001 through 2004.
