Mashup Weekend brings new ideas to life

-

An event designed to help participants experience what it takes to bring an idea for a new business to life is being held this weekend.

The Mashup Weekend event is being held at the NSCC campus on Arthur Street, in Truro and starts this Friday evening, continuing all day Saturday.

Business owner Andrew Button with CO3 and Mashup Lab is partnering with the Truro and Colchester Partnership for Economic Prosperity to stage the event.

With the concept, people share ideas, build small teams, and then take action over the course of the weekend to bring an idea to life. Teams will also have access to several experienced entrepreneurs who will provide mentorship and guidance as they refine and develop their business ideas.

“Even if you don’t have an idea of your own that’s not a problem,” Button said. “You can jump on a team, meet new people, stretch your creative muscles, and learn what it takes get an idea off the ground.”

“New start-ups and new ideas are boosting Colchester’s profile,” comments Brennan Gillis of the Truro & Colchester Partnership. “Events like Mashup Weekend are important – they help grow our start-up culture.”

Mashup Lab have been running Mashup Weekends in rural Nova Scotia the past few years. This is Mashup Labs 11th Mashup Weekend with over 200 participants and 150 new ideas business ideas pitched.

Registration for the event is available at Eventbrite.
