Annie Lou, Matt Minglewood take decoste stage this weekend

-

The decoste Performing Arts Centre in Pictou has announced a number of acts that will kick off this weekend, including a visit by Matt Minglewood.

On Friday, songwriter, composer, and performer Annie Lou, and her band will be at the centre to launch their latest CD.

To provide the opportunity for as many as possible to experience the grace, humour and warmth of Annie Lou’s performance, a two- for- one price special is being offered on tickets.

With guitar and banjo in hand, she has spent years chronicling the rural and urban life paths of Canada, writing songs to tell the tales of the hard- hit, hard-won victories of men and women.

Saturday night, the decoste has Minglewood on stage to deliver another performance of blues, country and some rock and roll, a classic style of the East Coast icon.

Minglewood arrives following the announcement of his wins at the ECMAS for Blues Recording of the Year for Fly Like Desperados, as well as Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year.

Unable to attend the awards presentations, the ECMA organization has asked that the presentation of these awards be made to Minglewood during his performance on Saturday. Matt Minglewood is on stage at the decoste Saturday night and will receive his ECMA awards at that time, since he was unable to attend the awards weekend.

Annie Lou and her band will be at the decoste Friday and a two-for-one special on tickets is being offered.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting the box office at 902485-8848; 1-800-353-5338, online at decostecentre.ca or drop at the centre, 99 Water Street, Pictou.
