BAIN (Blackmore), Doris Aileen – 83, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday evening, May 23, 2018, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro.

Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Hector and Sarah Jane (Little) Blackmore. Doris graduated from North River School and Success Business College in Truro. During her working years, she was employed at Central Agencies, Ken Lewis’ Insurance and Travel Agencies and Fulton Insurance Agencies, all of Truro. Doris is survived by her husband, John Bain; son, Ian (Gina) Bain, West Branch, Pictou County; daughter, Ruth (Dana) Slack, North River; grandchild­ren, Nicholas Slack, North River; Alana Slack (JT Speelman), Morden, Kings County; Colin Bain and Brian Bain, West Branch, Pictou County; sister, Marion Blackmore, Truro; sisters-in-law, Emily (Macnabb) Bain, Shirley (Weatherbie) Bain, Tatamagouc­he; many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her brothers-in-law, James Bain, Richard Bain, Robert Bain; sistersin-law, Hazel (Allan) Swantee, Muriel (Fraser) Bain, Elizabeth (Edward) Burns, Mary Bain. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Doris’ family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2018. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 28, 2018, at Brunswick Street United Church, 250 Brunswick Street, Truro, Reverend John Parsons officiatin­g. Reception will follow. Interment in West Branch Cemetery, West Branch, Pictou County. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Doris’ memory to Brunswick Street United Church or a charity of choice are welcomed.
