Enjoyable and safe Atv-ing is the goal

-

To the editor:

The All- Terrain Vehicle Association of Nova Scotia once again recognizes the first week of June as ATV/OHV safety week in Nova Scotia. We strongly encourage all riders to practise safe ATV use year around.

Riders can increase their safety skills by taking an ATV safety training course offered throughout Nova Scotia during the spring, summer and fall.

For most Nova Scotians ATV safety training is required by law. Our association and members continue to promote and support organized, responsible ATV use year around.

Each year, trainers hold ATV safety courses across Nova Scotia training drivers on the safe responsible use of ATV. The theme of this year’s safety week is “Gear up, get trained and go ride.”

We want to stress the importance of proper equipment and training prior to hitting the trails. Organized Atving is enjoyed by families across Nova Scotia every weekend and is an important segment of our rural economy.

ATVANS (All-terrain Vehicle Association of Nova Scotia) is the third largest ATV provincial rider federation in Canada.

ATVANS has over 40 clubs and thousands of club members in all re- gions of Nova Scotia. We produce and distribute safety literature at events across the province to help promote the safe responsible use of all-terrain vehicles.
