WIGGINS, Gordon Cecil — 77, Valley, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday evening, June 24, 2018, at home.

Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, he was the son of the late Cecil and Edith (Olsen) Wiggins.

Gordon was proud to be a serving member of Canadian Coast Guard in Labrador for 35 years and after retirement and moving to Valley, he worked as a commission­aire at Colchester Regional Hospital and Colchester East Hants Health Centre. He was an amateur astronomer, enjoyed tinkering with computers and electronic­s and was an avid remote control yer with Miniature Aircraft Society of Truro and also in Labrador when he lived there. He also enjoyed exploring all around Nova Scotia wherever he could get to with his car or on foot.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Audrey Jane (Frieda) Wiggins; children, Michael Wiggins, Alberta; Gregory (Veronica) Wiggins, Newfoundla­nd; Dawn Costa, Newfoundla­nd; Craig (Valerie) Wiggins, British Columbia; Wendy ( David) Pepper, Lisa Wiggins, Valley; grandchild­ren, Amy, Brandon, Amber, Jennifer, Crystal, Samantha, Luke, Matthew, Caitlin, Mitchel; great grandchild­ren, Jared, Kyra, Dominic. Special thanks to the VON and Palliative Care team who helped care for Gordon at home. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2018. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley.
