Wilbert Russell Joudrey, 84, Truro, passed away peacefully, with loving family at his side, on Thursday afternoon, July 5, 2018, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Upper Musquodobo­it, he was a son of the late Lawson and Ella (Fleming) Joudrey.

Growing up in Stewiacke, he attended school there and then graduated from Success Business College in Truro and began a 33-year career with Canada Manpower.

Upon retirement, he had the pleasure of traveling across Canada and the U.S. in an RV camper. Russell took pride in a job well done and was a keen aircraft and motor vehicle enthusiast, completing many restoratio­n projects; he also enjoyed traveling, reading and tinkering in the garage. He was a reservist with North Nova Scotia Highland Regiment and upon his retirement from service, he held the rank of Captain.

He was a member of Brunswick Street United Church and an associate member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro.

Russell is survived by his wife, Edena (Lane/stevenson) Joudrey; their children, Stephen Joudrey, North River; Scott ( Trudy) Joudrey, Bible Hill; Patricia (Terry) Cooke, Bible Hill/highland Village; Libby

( Doug) Langille, Salmon River; Carolyn Joudrey (Alan Ereaut), Whitehorse; grandchild­ren, Amanda, James, Shayne, Michael, Harold, Clayton, Jack, Madison; great grandchild­ren, Ainsley, Samuel, Chloe, Logan, Lucas; sister, Iris Janes, Truro; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predecease­d by his wife, Julia (Tree/ Richards) Joudrey; sisters, Winnie (Lawrence) Lemmon, Effie ( Frank) Graham, Ruby Sutherland; brotherin-law, John Janes. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall-varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service was held Monday, July 9, 2018, Reverend John Parsons officiated. Interment was held in Pine Grove Cemetery, East Stewiacke.
