Humour, Cape Breton style

Presentati­ons of the Cape Breton Summertime Revue have been a favourite at the decoste Performing Arts Centre for several years.

This time around, Savoy eatre’s production of the show e Next Generation is slated for one night only on Wednesday, Aug 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Maynard Morrison, director of the Revue, has worked with cast and band members to put together a show that features new material but still uses the triedand-true components that have made the show so popular.

Audiences will be entertaine­d with a wide array of tongue-in-cheek Cape Breton humour, toe tappin’ and hand clappin’ music, dancing and a few questionab­le – but memorable – characters to round out the sets.

A major addition to this year’s cast is Mary Colin-chisholm, who many will rec- ognize for her television performanc­es in shows like Pit Pony, Black Harbour and “Made in Canada. She won Best Actress at the Atlantic Film Festival in 2016 for her performanc­e in Cast No Shadow. Colin-Chisholm is a successful playwright of her own accord, currently having her Hook, Line and Sinner production premiere at Ships Company eatre in Parrsboro.

Additional cast members heading up the front line of the revue include Margaret Macpherson, Peter Macinnis, Jenn Sheppard and Jordan Musycysn. They’ll be backed by the revue band, which features Brian Talbot, Allie Bennett, Darren McMullen and Rachel Davis, under the direction of Stephen Muise and Fred Lavery.
