Senior tennis a big hit in Truro

“An all-life sport” is the way o ce manager Joel Richards describes tennis, and the thriving senior membership communitie­s agree.

The club has more than 75 members aged 50+, including up to age 80, and is a great source of exercise, friendship and fresh air.

is senior group includes a dedicated group of 30 that play ve days a week, every single morning. When asked what keeps him coming back every day, long-time member Jim Power said that “as a senior, tennis is the most enjoyable thing I’ve ever done.”

Another long-time organizer and promoter is Norma Stewart, a well-known face at the club. She loves tennis because in her words, “it’s a fun social occasion, combining great physical exercise and spending time with friends.”

is year, the club programmin­g has placed emphasis on tennis for those at an older age, and this includes a free six-week session speci cally tailored to those over 50. The senior membership at the Truro Tennis Club is having a great time on the courts this season, staying in shape while enjoying the game they love.

of tennis, or those trying to become more active. It will include a social, stretching, and an hour of tennis.
