Ski Wentworth o ers a view of all the autumn splendour

Two-day event has become a anksgiving tradition

Fall colours and family fun await anyone who visits Ski Wentworth on anksgiving Weekend.

The chairlift will be open for scenic rides up the mountain Oct. 6 and 7. ere will be pony and horse rides, a petting farm, bouncy castle, haystack playground and a rock-climbing wall for children.

“You basically get beautiful views of the Wentworth Valley. From the top of the mountain, on a good day, you can see the Prince Edward Island bridge,” said Leslie Wilson, general manager of Ski Wentworth. “It’s such a nice opportunit­y for people to be able to experience Wentworth in the fall.”

e Fall Festival of Colours has been running for about 25 years and is now a popular anksgiving tradition for families. No one can say for sure when the fall colours will be at their most spectacula­r. But those who visit at the right time are in for a treat, as the Wentworth Valley is home to maples that produce bright oranges, yellows and reds as the leaves die o .

Later in the year, Ski Wentworth will open to snowboarde­rs, snow shoe enthusiast­s and downhill and cross-country skiers.

“It’s de nitely not Ban or Jasper, but it’s the largest skiable terrain in the Maritimes,” said Wilson. “It’s a mixture of beginner to expert trails.”

e ski lift is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for rides to the top of the hill on Thanksgivi­ng Weekend. However, people must walk back down.
