Nine dashes of fast-paced action on tap

Nine dashes and 64 horses will headline Friday night’s card at Truro Raceway.

Fresh stock on the program includes Lo Lo Lo Logan out of Rideau Carleton and Adventure Luck from ree Rivers being sent out from the Nick White camp. Post Time for nine dashes is set for 6:30 p.m. Quali ers are set for 5:45 p.m.

Matinee amateur driving program

Two of Truro’s up-and-and coming horsemen – Ryder Matthews Rennison and Gregrory Francis of Windsor – have spent a large portion of the summer participat­ing in Matinee Amateur Driving Programs hosted on P.E.I.

Ryder’s first drive was a winning one in Tyne Valley with Rocky Irons’ trotter, Liborio, laying down a new trot track record of 202.2. Ryder also teamed up with Electric Syl in Pinette to win the Kilted Pace in 157.2 with Francis and Jazzmo picking up the deuce.

Ryder campaigned in Kensington, nishing third with Liborio and setting a new track record for pacers of 158.3 with Electric Syl. is boosted him to fourth place in the Matinee standings, one point shy of making the nal.

However, Ryder did pick up the drive on Liborio in the nal to nish second in the year-end challenge.

Stable report

Lower Onslow-based trainer/ driver Darren Crowe currently has a pair of keen contenders under his tutledge, one being the seasoned 14 year old warrior, Montreal Phil, owned by Dawn Ellis and Je Ellis.

A son of Blissful Hall, Montreal Phil has won his last four starts and boasts a report card of 16 starts, 11 wins and two seconds, hitting the money 16 out of 17 outings.

An interestin­g fact, according to Crowe, is “Phil “likes to win and enjoys the pace leading the pack on the front end.

Newcomer to the camp is a twoyear-old son of world champion, Somebeachs­omwhere, Just Wave Goodbye, owned by David Macdonald, Halifax. Purchased out of New Jersey, the colt arrived in Nova Scotia very “green” and now the youngster is showing strong potential, picking up his rst lifetime win in his second Truro start, covering the ground in brisk 158.2.

Saint John’s Exhibition Park Raceway will host the nal card of the year – a six-dash card tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. posttime. Regulars from Truro Raceway shipping into the Port City track include Clayton Stevens, Dawn Ellis Abbott and Donnie Ellis.
