■ BEARCAT BYTES

-

Karter Renouf Number: 91 Age: 19 Position: Forward

Hometown: South Porcupine, Ont. H-W: 5-10, 197 lbs. Bearcat-of-the-week honours went to second-year forward, Karter Renouf. Karter accounted for all Bearcat scoring with a power-play goal in the rst period and the OT winner in the 2-1 victory over the Edmundston Blizzard.

He shared the lead in Bearcat scoring with Kyle Sexton, both with seven points. Three of Renouf’s goals were game winners. Goaltending has been a Bearcat strength over the years. Same thing this year. Alec Macdonald picked up the win last Friday, turning aside 25 Blizzard shots for his third win of the season. Myles Hektor picked up wins in the three games leading into last weekend. They have been very stingy dealing with the opposition, allowing the fewest goals against at this stage of the schedule. Giving teammates the chance to win is their objective. Let’s face it, all wins are team wins.

Service recognition

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Truro Fire Department, both brigade and re service. The Bearcats salute that service with ceremonial face-o in Friday’s game.

On tap

Tonight the Bearcats are in Bridgewater to face the South Shore Lumberjacks. That game gets underway at 7 p.m. Friday, the Amherst Ramblers return to the RECC. That game is set for a 7:00 pm start.
