-

Lauchie Macdonald Number: 3

Homtown: Bedford

Position: Defence

Age: 19

H-W: 6-1, 175 lbs. Coming into training camp the Truro Bearcats had a pair of returning defencemen, both in their second year. The need for additional experience came via a trade with the Yarmouth Mariners.

The Bearcats landed a player who was a good fit, and able to contribute in a number of ways – Lauchie Macdonald.

Lauchie got his hockey start in the Bedford minor program, working his way through the ranks to the major bantam level where he suited up with the Bed- ford Barons. Next up was two seasons with the Halifax Mcdonald’s Midgets. While eligible for a third season, he opted to play high school hockey for the 20162017 season with the C.P. Allen Cheetahs. He played forward and picked up 19 goals and 14 assists in 22 games.

The 2016 Dieppe pick got his feet wet at the junior level that year as well. Prior to the start of last year, Yarmouth acquired his playing rights from Edmundston. He played all of last year with the Mariners. As a Bearcat, he’s been attentive in the defensive zone and looks to lug the puck when advisable. He’s seeing action in all situations.
