Truro teen’s plea is heard, possessions returned
A Truro girl feared some of her most valuable items were lost forever, after a bag was stolen from a Truro doorstep. But after making a public plea for their return, they were left with an acquaintance.
Sixteen- year- old Celine Curran’s phone – with some of the last photos of her late grandmother – her birth certificate, her social insurance card, and some clothing were in a bag that went missing the evening of Nov. 20.
A friend who was helping her move things into an apartment on Arthur Street, set the bag down for a moment. When he went to bring it in, it was gone.
The phone holds a lot of value for Celine, as it contains pictures of her with her grandmother, who recently died. School log-in information is also stored in the phone.
“I almost always have my phone in my pocket, but I put it in the bag because I was afraid it would fall out while I was moving,” Celine said the morning after her bag was taken.
Her story was posted on the Truro News website and was shared on Facebook by more than 200 people. She’s not sure what prompted them to return it, but she’s very happy they made the decision to do so.
“Thank you so much to everyone who spread the word about my missing items,” Celine said in a Facebook post. “With your help my items were returned to a family friend who then gave them back to me. Thank you so much for helping me!!!”
