Santa Photo fundraiser in Truro this weekend

- BY FRAM DINSHAW

Global Pet Foods is offering people and their pets a festive photo with Santa in a special Christmas fundraiser in Truro this Sunday.

The store in Truro is raising money for Elderdog Central Nova at its Robie Street location on Dec. 2.

The group helps seniors care for their dogs, as well as dogs who are themselves becoming old, by helping them be adopted, for example.

“I think that any time throughout the year that you can help to provide support to animal shelters and rescue groups it is important,” said Corinne Brazeau, general manager of Global Pet Foods. “It’s wonderful, we’re always happy to help in any way we can.”

Global Pet Foods first launched their Santa Photo drive at its Truro location in 2011, but for the first time this year they are running it at their Stellarton location.

Brazeau said that people wishing to have their photo taken should make a minimum $5 donation.

Those who donate $10 or more will be entered into a draw to receive a Global Pet Foods gift card worth $50, plus a coupon that will give them 15 per cent off all store purchases.

Everyone who attends will receive a goody bag.

Brazeau is aiming to raise at least $500 in donations from each store location this weekend.

The Truro fundraiser will be at 68 Robie Street, Truro on Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Stellarton fundraiser will be Saturday, Dec. 1, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and money raised from this drive will go towards the Pictou SPCA shelter.
