GIBB Stuart Arthur

Gibb, Stuart Arthur – of Truro. Our beloved Stuart passed away on February 1, 2019 after a life filled with love and laughter. He was born in Winnipeg in 1950, adopting Nova Scotia in 1975. A gardener and horticultu­rist, Stuart studied at the Nova Scotia Agricultur­al College and remained there for the rest of his career. After retiring, Stuart gave his time as a volunteer in the horticultu­re program at Nova Institutio­n. He was an accomplish­ed choir singer, and a member of the Truro Cantabile Singers, the Halifax Camerata Singers and New Horizons Band Truro as a saxophonis­t. Stuart enjoyed quiet dog walks, model trains and projects in his workshop, and time on Prince Edward Island. Stuart celebrated 35 years of marriage in 2018 with his wife, Sarah Macdonald. He will be forever remembered by his wife, Sarah; children, Duncan Mathew (Marianne Lafon) and Ian David (Andrea Robinson); and by his brother, David (Brigitte) Gibb; nieces, Penny, Theresa and Rebecca. He joined the Macdonald family through marriage and will be mourned by David and Susan Macdonald, Nancy and Allen Marr, Teresa and Robert Wilkie, Chris Macdonald, Andrew Macdonald and Yvette Serroul; his nieces and nephews, Mark and Matthew Macdonald, Caitlin Marr, Mary Clare and Patrick Wilkie and Ethan Macdonald. He was predecease­d by parents, John and Margaret (Isherwood) and his nephew, Alex Marr. Stuart’s family was always first in his heart. Cremation has taken place. A funeral will be held on Thursday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. in First United Church, 711 Prince St., Truro, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stuart’s name to Colchester Food Bank, Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or Nova Scotia SPCA. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperativ­e, Upper Musquodobo­it.
