- STEPHEN MALLOV Stephen Mallov is marketing manager for the Cougar Dome.

The Cougar Dome will host a free family day on Monday, Feb. 18 as part of the Truro Long John Festival.

The Cougar Dome will open its doors to the public from 2 to 5 p.m. for a free day of tennis, turf activities, bouncy castles and more. Pre-registration is not required.

“We’re very excited to showcase our beautiful facility, and the many different activities we offer,” said marketing coordinator Stephen Mallov. “While we are primarily a tennis facility, this day will be a great opportunity for the public to experience our other offerings, such as our turf sports and track.”

The festival has proven to be a popular event, and this year’s edition will be held Feb. 15 to 18 and includes entertainment such as sports and music, and also features a variety of local businesses.

The Cougar Dome has six indoor tennis courts, two of which are covered by 14,000-square feet of synthetic turf, which is used by many groups including Truro Minor Football and CEC track and field. It also has a 260m track encircling the area to accommodate various sports, activities and training events.

For those interested in tennis programs, the Cougar Dome will begin their next six-week cycle of lessons the following week on Feb. 25. Feel free to sign up or get any information by phone at 902-843-4171, or email info@cougardome.ca.
