Spring road weight restrictio­ns coming into effect

TRURO, N.S. – A promise of spring is in the air. Or at least on the roads.

Provincial road weight restrictio­ns come into effect on March 11 at 12:01 a.m.

The March 16 Youth that Shoot event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 30-minute safety training sessions will begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., after which the youth can shoot. Once children are ready to shoot, they can do target practice on the range using 20 air rifle or .22 rounds. The course costs $15 and space is limited.

Next week’s restrictio­ns apply for the following counties: Colchester, Halifax, Cumberland, Digby, Hants, Kings, Lunenburg, Pictou, Queens, Shelburne and Yarmouth. Restrictio­ns for Antigonish, Guysboroug­h, Inverness, Richmond and Victoria counties will begin a week later at the same time. The weight restrictio­ns to not apply to 100-series highways.
