TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars just missed out on winning the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 1 girls volleyball title last weekend.

The Cougars lost the provincial final to the C.P. Allen Cheetahs from Bedford at the tournament hosted by Memorial High School in Sydney Mines.

Trailing by as many as eight points in the late stages of the first set, the Cougars staged a comeback to win 26-24. In the second set, the Cougars led 23-18, but the Cheetahs staged their own comeback, as they rattled off five straight points to tie the score 23-23. A kill from Hannah Huntley gave the Cougars a match point, but C.P. Allen responded by running off three straight points to close out the set.

The Cheetahs won the third set 15-9 to take top honours.

It was the sixth year in a row the CEC team has been in the provincial final.
