Nova New Horizons holding Christmas Cabaret

TRURO, N.S. – The Nova New Horizons bands program is presenting an evening of seasonal music and refreshmen­ts.

The 4th Annual Christmas Cabaret will be held at the Best Western Glengarry on Thursday, Dec. 19, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The show will feature four levels of the band program under the direction of founder, administra­tor and teacher Paul Barrett.

The Cobequid New Horizons Junior Jazz Band Work In Progress, directed by John Macleod, the current director of music at Cobequid Educationa­l Centre, will also play.

The program opens with the Level 4 band performing “What Child Is This?” followed by Paul Barrett’s newly completed arrangemen­t of “Ding Dong Merrily On High.”

Level 1 and 2 musicians will join to perform “Frosty The Snowman,” “Silver Bells” and “The Stars Are Brightly Shining.”

Work In Progress will then present “Go Tell It On The Mountain” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”

A Paul Barrett arrangemen­t of ‘When Santa Claus Gets Your Letter,’ ‘Sleigh Bells’ and ‘Here Comes Santa Claus’ will be performed by the Level 3 band. The musicians will continue with

‘It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year’ and a medley of ‘Good Christian Men Rejoice,’

‘I Saw Three Ships’ and ‘Christmas In Kilarney.’

The Level 4 band will close the program with Barrett’s ‘Fantasia On Angels We Have Heard On High.’

Cabaret seating will add to the relaxed atmosphere and Christmas punch will be available.

Admission is $15, $10.00 for young children. Tickets can be reserved in advance by emailing barp@eastlink.ca
