Family of Colchester County man hope for a Christmas miracle

- LYNN CURWIN

TRURO, N.S. – The family of Peter Anthony (Tony) Walsh has issued a video appeal they hope will lead to finding him.

“We, as a family, are looking for a Christmas miracle. I would like someone with great compassion and courage to come forward with any information you have on the disappearance of my son, Tony Walsh,” said Susan Robben, her voice breaking with tears, in the video.

“Tony is a son, brother, father, uncle and friend to many and we all miss him dearly. Tony’s daughter is looking to have her dad come home for Christmas and cook her supper. That’s all she’s asking for.

“We are from a small community where we should be watching out for our neighbours and, unfortunately, this does happen in small communities. Tony, if you are watching this, please come home.”

Walsh, who lived in Crowes Mills, was reported missing Aug. 28.

On the morning and afternoon of Friday, Aug. 23, he drove to several locations including Millbrook, Truro and Debert. The last reported sighting was of him getting into a truck in the Truro area.

His vehicle, a beige 1990 Chrysler Sebring, was later found in the parking lot of a downtown Truro business.

On Sept. 26, divers with the RCMP’S H Division Underwater Recovery Team, following up on information received from the public, searched ponds in the Rayner’s Pit area of Debert. A second dive was held a few weeks later but RCMP have not reported finding any evidence linked to his disappearance.

Ground searches have also been unsuccessful.

Walsh, 35, is 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds. He has several tattoos, including a diamond under his right eye. He was last seen wearing brown work pants, a white T-shirt with black lettering and brown work boots.

“We know that someone out there knows something about Tony’s disappearance and we want them to see this video,” said Cpl. Jennifer Clarke of the Nova Scotia RCMP.
