Everyone must do their part to stop global warming

our activities effect our planet. Locally, our young people have been involved in the green movement with clubs in many schools in the Annapolis Valley.

Several years ago, KCA school in Kentville worked with the town’s environmen­tal committee on various clean-up campaigns as well as marching in the Apple Blossom Children’s parade promoting the idle-free message. Did you know that KCA was the first school in AVRSB to be declared Idle Free? Subsequent­ly, the other schools became idle free following my presentati­on to the board members.

Working with school-aged children, talking to the residents of Kentville and promoting the idle free message, Kentville adopted an idling reduction bylaw after two years of education. Did you know this was an Atlantic Canada first?

Clearly, grassroots engagement of our young people by government and industry is the key to success in this battle against climate change. Time magazine is warning of a massive heat wave beginning approximat­ely July 26 where temperatur­es could top 110 F in Vegas! Yes, this is global warming.
