Ken-Wo women stack up at championships

The Ken-Wo Women’s Division Championship competition was held Aug. 11–12, attracting 47 strong competitors to the field.

The premier event for Ken-Wo women involved four divisions of 18-hole competition and one division of nine-hole competition.

This year’s winner of the George E. Graham Cup, awarded since 1925, was Port Williams resident Meghan McLean with a score of 149 for 36 holes.

Kathy Fleiger won the Lillian Swanburg Trophy for the Low Net of the Field with a net score of 134. Beth Lloyd won the Mutual Life Cup as Senior (50+) Champion.

Lauraina Nicol won the Dorothy Herbin Cup as Master (70+) Champion. Mary Lou Muttart won the George Gillis Trophy for the Low Gross Score for the Nine Hole participants. Catharina Ansems won the Helen Orr Trophy for the Low Net of Field for nine holes.

Heather McLean won the First Division Trophy. She was followed by Sara Cumby, Renda Vandertoorn and Shari Thurston.

The second division trophy went to Linda Durling and behind here were: Cheryl Hawboldt, Coleen Youden and Sirpa Winslade.

Gwen Phillips won the Troyte- Bullock Cup for leading the third division. She was followed by Ruth Garapick with first low net, Karen MacKay and Carolyn Baxter.

Rose Leslie captured the Margaret Bishop Trophy in the fourth division. Marion Sampson had the first low net title.

In the Nine Hole division, Lois Dewar and Judi Thorburn won the second low gross and second low net titles respectively.
