Pedestrian hit

-

RCMP officers, firefighters and paramedics were called to an accident along Highway 1 near Bog Road in Falmouth Sept. 21.

The call came in around 4 p.m. as a pedestrian-vehicle accident along the 1500 block of Highway 1.

Paul Maynard, the deputy fire chief with the Hantsport Fire Department, said he was limited in what he could say about the accident but confirmed Life Flight was called to the scene.

“Upon arrival, our firefighters assisted EHS with patient care. There was a single patient struck by a vehicle,” said Maynard.

“Life Flight was also called to the scene so our crews from Brooklyn and Hantsport also assisted with setting up a landing zone.”

In an RCMP press release issued Sept. 22, it was noted that the 60-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle while he was walking along Highway 1 on the right side of the road. The driver of the car was not injured.

The deceased was from Windsor, though his name has not been released to the media.

Highway 1 was closed to traffic for several hours while an on-scene investigation was conducted. The investigation is continuing
