The Warriors went on to play in the Day Of Champions tournament against the Queens County Cougars at the Queens Emera Centre in Liverpool for the League Championship on March 25.

The Nova Scotia Junior B Hockey League was hoping the Fred Fox Divisional Final would have concluded this weekend, March 25-26, even if it went to Game 7.

Ol’ man winter changed that on March 19, as freezing rain and snow had the Liverpool Privateers and Valley Maple Leafs management agreeing the trip to Liverpool on Highway 103 would not be safe.

As a result, the March 21 game in Windsor was cancelled and Game 4 played at Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool on March 22 at 7:30 p.m.

The Leafs pulled out a narrow 6-5 win in that game with an overtime goal from Tyler Young to tie the best-of-seven series 2-2. Valley scorers included Isaac Bridge, Nathan Clarke, Carson Gallant and Wesley Demone.

The weather changes meant Game 5 in the series was shifted to Windsor on March 24 at 7:30 p.m., with Game 6 going ahead March 27 in Liverpool at 7:30 p.m. If a seventh game becomes necessary, it will be played in Windsor March 29 at 7:30 p.m.

The weather has set the entire series back by five full days as the original schedule called for a Game 7 to be played in Windsor on March 24.

Ice was scheduled to be removed from Hants Exhibition Arena after the finals, but with Game 7 now still hanging in the air, the Town of Windsor has agreed to allow the ice to remain through March 29.

If the Valley Maple Leafs advance to the finals, like they have the past two seasons, the town has agreed to sit down with team management to see if a formula can be worked out to allow the league and provincial championship to be played in Windsor. The Privateers are looking for their first chance at a league championship appearance since moving from St. Margaret’s Bay a few seasons ago.
