Sending a positive message

ing people and organizations who, each and every day, make a positive difference in their community, their city, and their country. As part of this initiative, Shaw is providing Morden with a $1,500 grant.

She will performing occasionally this summer at the Edible Art Café in Greenwich. Otherwise, she says she is planning her fall tour of schools.

Growing up, severe and relentless school bullying was a regular occurrence for Morden. Despite the overwhelming hard times, she refused to bow to defeat.

During her senior year of high school in 2012, Morden created the No Time for That tour presentation, which is still offered to schools across Canada free of charge. Through these school presentations, she tells her stories and experiences, and performs the songs that she has written which all relate to bullying, mental health awareness and how to overcome tough times.

Morden talks about what it›s like living with mental illness, explaining that it doesn’t define her.

“I’ve learned that it’s OK not to be OK. Yes, I have some really bad days, but I also have really good days, and those good days are the days worth fighting for,” she said.

She stresses that positivity is key and so is self-love, explaining to kids the importance of focusing on the positive and to not let people or things bring you down.

So far, Morden has visited almost 500 schools across Canada with the tour.

“I know how alone, misunderstood, and hurt I felt when I was being bullied, and I also know that there are thousands of others feeling the exact same way I did. No one deserves to feel that way,” she says.

“Every person has the poten- tial to offer something great to their community and to the world, which is why it›s so important to not let bullying and the stigma surrounding mental illness prevent them from making a positive contribution.”

Morden thanked Shaw for the donation, which she says will help ensure the tours continue.

“Thank you Shaw for helping the No Time for That AntiBullying Society continue to make a difference, change the lives of Canadian youth, and create more outstanding Canadians,” she added.
