Roxeen & Dalrymple heading to Windsor for traditional gospel music show
On Jan. 28, Roxeen & Dalrymple will bring their perfect blend of tradition and distinctive gospel sound to the Windsor Baptist Church.
Nova Scotia’s Roxeen & Dalrymple may be one of the province’s newest acoustic acts, however, they are far from being new to the music scene.
The duo consists of Roxeen Roberts and Gary Dalrymple. They were originally teamed together 25 years ago as bandmates of the legendary Spinney Brothers. After a life of separate musical paths, the pair has reunited. Roxeen & Dalrymple is a classic guitar and mandolin duet, a tour de force of vocals, rhythm and traditional melodies.
Collectively they are highly respected, veteran musicians with impressive musical resumes. They are multiple East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs) nominees, Maritime Gospel Music awards ( MGMA) nominees, and have won numerous Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards (ECBMAs). They have toured coast to coast in Canada and the United States and now, after careers of extensive travel and performing and recording, the duo couldn’t be more excited as to where they have landed musically.
“We honestly love and cherish the classic sounds of traditional gospel music,” said Roberts.
They honour the music of the past yet embrace the present through their own originality.
“We both grew up on the traditional sounds of gospel, bluegrass and classic country gospel, you know, the good stuff,” said Dalrymple. “It is this style of music that we are so excited to be performing. Our show includes many of the standards, however, expect to hear some of our own material, songs of course, that are heavily influenced by the music we were raised on”.
Their Jan. 28 date is one of numerous performances in the Maritime performances, to kick off 2018.
The show will start at 6:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door at a cost of $15 per person. For more info, contact 902-222-4835.
