• Workshop — The ‘Money Talks’ seminar series with Melanie Dempsey, Scotiabank Senior Financial Advisor, begins with ‘Investment Fundamentals’ from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Isabel and Roy Jodrey Memorial Library in Hantsport. Dempsey will discuss investing basics, understanding mutual funds and strategies for success. Free to attend.
• Annual General Meeting — The Hants Shore Health Association will be meeting at the Centre Burlington Community Hall at 7 p.m. Snow date is Jan. 30. Guest speaker will be Lindsay Sutherland, the health service manager for primary care. Light refreshments available.

• Registration for skating programs — Sign up to be part of the Riverview Skating Club at the Newport and District Arena on Jan. 24 and Jan. 26 from 5-8 p.m. or on Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Skating session begins Feb 7 at the Newport rink. • Winter Olympics — There will be a variety of crafts and games celebrating the Winter Olympics from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Isabel and Roy Jodrey Memorial Library in Hantsport. All ages welcome for this Family Literacy Day event.

• Dance — At the Royal Canadian Legion Hants County Branch 009 in Windsor from 7-11 p.m. The MC Band will be playing. Admission: $5. Adults only. Info: 902-798-0888.
• Steak Darts — Games are every Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 165 in Mount Uniacke

• Bored? Games — From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Isabel & Roy Jodrey Memorial Library in Hantsport. There will be family board games and lots of Lego. Stop in for a quick game, or linger over a new game with family and friends.
• Escape from Hogwarts — From 2:30-4 p.m. at the Isabel & Roy Jodrey Memorial Library, in Hantsport. This is a Harry Potter themed escape room — a “breakout kit” game for aspiring muggle sleuths and undercover magicians. Light snack provided. For ages 13 years and older. Registration is required.
• Supper — At the Hantsport Baptist Church from 4:30-6 p.m. Cost: $10 for adults; $5 for youths 12 years and under $5.00. Supper consists of baked beans, ham and potato scallop, pies, brown bread, rolls and a beverage.
• Roast Beef Supper — At the Three Mile Plains Community Hall at 5 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Cost: $12 for adults; $6 for children under 10 years of age. There will be 50/50 tickets at the door — three for $1. Take out will be available at 5 p.m. Call the hall to order at: 902-798-8796.
• Dance — At the Brooklyn Civic Centre from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. The Avon River Rats Junior C hockey team will be hosting a dance and auction to raise much-needed funds to keep the team in Windsor.
The band Short Notice will keep you up dancing all night long. There will be auction items to bid on, plus a cash bar. Advance tickets are $10, or $12 at the door. Advance tickets available at Newport and District Rink canteen or Cuticles Nail & Hair Studio, 7 Gerrish St., Windsor.
• Castle Frederick Snowshoe Hike — at 11 a.m. Hike Nova Scotia and West Hants Parks & Recreation present a guided snowshoe hike at Castle Frederick Farm in Falmouth. Pre-registration required; email summerrec@westhants.ca. See www.hikenovascotia.ca for details.

• Breakfast – The Windsor Lions Club will be holding its monthly breakfast at the Lions Den in the Hants County War Memorial Community Centre in Windsor. A full meal will be served for $8 from 7:30-9:30 a.m.

• Annapolis Valley Regional Library Bookmobile — Will visit Brooklyn, in Hants County, from 11 a.m. until noon; Summerville from 1:30–2:30 p.m.

• Cozy Corner Storytime — From 10:30- 11:30 a.m. at the Isabel & Roy Jodrey Memorial Library, in Hantsport. Join library staff for a fun-filled hour of stories, rhymes, games and crafts.
