Rock of Ages hits the stage at Avon View
We hope you didn’t miss the chance to see AV’s biggest musical, Rock of Ages. A total of 50 students and staff participated in this show. Each displayed their unique style and signature in reproducing this hit movie in a family-friendly style.
The musical, which was held May 3- 5, featured some of the best ‘80s hits.
On April 12, Avon View was painted in green and yellow colours. Our school community showed its support by wearing green and gold and team jerseys for the members of the Humboldt Broncos and their loved ones. They are always in our hearts and in our minds.
Report cards were distributed on April 12, as well as parent/ teacher forms. Parents had a chance to talk to teachers about the students’ status on April 19- 20 during parent/ teacher meetings.
The AV cheer team was on the road, driving at full throttle to Cape Breton in April. They were competing in provincials, located at Riverview High School. They earned the highest score, with zero deductions, in two parts of the competition and took home third place overall. Good job cheerleaders!
The Avalanche girls’ rugby team had a great trip to Rothesay, N.B. on April 19. They participated in a tournament that hosted the best teams from all over Atlantic Canada. They went undefeated, which made them a source of honour for our school. Also, they hosted a big tournament on May 5.
On April 12, students enjoyed the last dance for the school year. The theme was Decade Dance, with music from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The dance floor was brightened by all the flashy fashion of yesteryear.
For the first time in a while, Safe Grad has been planned for graduating students. It will be taking place at Acadia University. Tickets are on sale now at the cafeteria every Tuesday and Thursday until May 24. Don’t miss out this great night to have fun and make great memories.
