- BY DAN BOYD WWW.HANTSJOURNAL.CA

The White Rock Rockies were missing star pitcher Justin Schofield on June 7 at the St. Croix ballpark and it showed, as the Halifax Pepperjacks swept a doubleheader from the Rockies by scores of 10-2 and 7-4.

In the first game, the Rockies fell behind 4-0 after three innings before scoring a pair in the fifth in an attempt to get back into the game.

The Pepperjacks threw cold water on that idea by exploding for six runs in the sixth inning to win the game 10-2.

The Rockies managed six hits, including two by Sean Croft and a double by Aaron Harvey. Mitch- ell Urquhart suffered the loss, giving up 10 earned runs, 11 hits, and eight walks while managing seven strike outs.

In the second game, the Pepperjacks led 6-0 after 4 and-a-half innings before the Rockies plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth to get on the scoreboard.

It was as far as they could get as the teams traded single runs for the duration of the game, with the Pepperjacks recording a 7-4 win.

Trent MacKeil went two for three at the plate for the Rockies, collecting a double, a single, an RBI, scoring two of the Rockies’ four runs.

Curtis Broussard pitched the loss for the Rockies with six of the seven Pepperjack runs being earned. Broussard struck- out four and walked four while col- lecting a double and scoring a run offensively.
