Smith, Richard Arthur — 62, of Windsor Back Road, passed away one day before his 63rd birthday on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on Sept. 28, 1955 in Halifax, he was the son of the late Arthur and Borguild (Bergstrand) Smith. Richard worked as a profession­al driver for Kent/Central Building Supplies for 30 years. He also worked for Wire Rope Industries delivering fishing gear. Richard enjoyed fishing, both salt and fresh water. He was an antique car hobby enthusiast. Richard loved carpentry work and restoring old houses. Surviving are his wife, the former Beverly Slade; sons, Robert (Christine) Smith, Kingston, Ontario; William (Melodie) Van’t Kruis, Halifax; daughter, Sheryl Van’t Kruis, Halifax; grandchild­ren, Conner, Jax, Kirsten, Kallum, Maddison and Chloe; brothers, Douglas (Alice), New Glasgow; Ross (Teresa), Fall River; John, Windsor Junction; nephew, Colton Smith. Predecease­d by his sister-inlaw, Bonnie Smith. Richard’s family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and the Palliative Care Unit at the Hants Community Hospital for their excellent care given to Richard and his family. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. Memorial service was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 in Lindsay’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Curry officiated. Interment will be in Thomas Smith Cemetery, Port Hood Island, at a later date.
