- BY DAN BOYD WWW.HANTSJOURNAL.CA

The news is not getting any better for the Windsor Royals as the 2018-19 Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League season approaches the half-way mark.

The Royals were hammered 8-1 by the Cumberland Colts in Springhill on Nov. 2, with Jacob Caldwell’s first period goal being all the offence the Royals could produce.

On Nov. 3, it did not get any better on the Eastern Shore, as the Royals were blasted 10-4 by the Thunder. That game was even 1-1 after 20 minutes, with Kirby Maillet’s goal being the only Royal marker.

The second period saw the Thunder score six times and go up 7-3. The Royals goals were scored by Tyler Dixon, on the powerplay, and Brandon Sullivan.

Reagan Levangie scored the Royals’ fourth and final goal in the third period, in a game in which the Windsor team was bombarded in shots, being outshot 61-25.

Back in Windsor on Nov. 4, the Royals were shut down by the East Hants Penguins 5-2.

The Penguins went up 2-0 after the first period and the score stayed that way until the third period. East Hants then outscored the Royals 3-2 in the third for the 5-2 final.

Cole Godfrey scored the Royals’ only two goals.

The three losses left the Royals in fifth place on Nov. 8, trailing first-place Spryfield by seven points and second place East Hants by six.

They will be playing two more games soon, where they’re hoping to turn their fortunes around. The first is in Sackville on Nov. 17 and the second is in Windsor against the first place Spryfield Attack on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

The Royals were set to play Nov. 10 in East Hants and Nov. 11 at home against Eastern Shore.

Every game is now becoming more critical as a result of their Nov. 2-4 three-game losing streak.

As of press time, the Royals were 4-8-0 after 12 games and are tied with Cumberland for having played the most games of their season.
