• OVUC Christmas Soup and Dessert Luncheon — At the Orchard Valley United Church from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a choice of sausage and squash soup or cream of broccoli soup, fresh biscuits, tea or coffee, and sticky date pudding. • Bookmobile Visit — At the Apple Tree Landing in Canning from 2-3 p.m. will feature Nova Scotia Country Hall of Famer Matt Balsor from 9 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. at 78 River St., in Kentville. • Crib Tournament — At the Kentville Legion, registrati­on at 12:30 p.m., play starts at 1 p.m., upstairs, $20 per team.

• Scrooge’s Tale — Aylesford and Kingston United Churches are presenting Scrooge’s Tale — a musical play based on Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol that is written by the Rev. John Moses with music composed by William F. Treadgold. Familiar favourites include Old Jacob Marley, the ghostly spirits, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim, and of course miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, as well as a host of other characters and a full chorus to entertain you in song. • Blood Donor Clinic — At the Windsor Royal Canadian Legion, 35 Empire Ln., from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. There are 96 appointmen­ts to fill. To book your appointmen­t, download the GiveBlood app or visit blood.ca.

• Breakfast — At St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Hall, 59 Main St., in Hantsport, from 7-10 a.m. Menu consists of pancakes, eggs, ham, beans, hash browns, toast, juice, tea or coffee. Sponsored by the Hantsport and District Lions Club. Proceeds raised go towards community service programs. Cost: $7 for adults; $3.50 for children ages six to 12 years; free for children five years and younger.

• Christmas Ornament Crafting Party — At the Isabel and Roy Jodrey Memorial Library, 10 Main St., in Hantsport from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Make an ornament (or two) for your tree and have a sweet treat (or two) while you do. Event is intended for youth ages nine to 12 years. Registrati­on required as space is limited. • West Hants Historical Society — There will be a public presentati­on at the West Hants Historical Society Museum, 281 King St., in Windsor at 2 p.m. Jim Bremner, an eighth generation Castle Frederick farmer and a direct descendent of JFW DesBarres, will speak on the history of his ancestral home Castle Frederick. Free admission; donations welcome. Light refreshmen­ts will be served.

• Stuff-a-Cruiser — Help the Matthew 25 Windsor and District Food Bank by stuffing an RCMP cruiser full with groceries. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. outside Sobeys in Windsor.

• Christmas Crafts for Adults Party — At the Isabel and Roy Jodrey Memorial Library, 10 Main St., in Hantsport from 6-7:30 p.m. Join local crafter Cathy Dunbar for a Christmas craft session. Intended for adults. Registrati­on required as space is limited. It is free to attend. Info: 902-684-0103.

• Live Nativity: Journey to Bethlehem — From 6-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 at the Windsor United Church, 613 King St., (parking lot off Wentworth Road). There will be live animals, free hot chocolate and cookies. A freewill offering for Windsor and West Hants School Breakfast Program will be collected.

• Christmas Coffee Party

— At St. Andrews’s Anglican Church, Main Street, in Hantsport from 9:30-11 a.m. Admission: $5. There will be bake, craft and white elephant tables, books, and puzzles.

• Christmas Cookie Swap

— At the Isabel and Roy Jodrey Memorial Library, 10 Main St., in Hantsport from noon until 1 p.m. Bring a box of your favourite homemade Christmas cookies (with a few extra for sampling) to share and swap! • Author Reading — Join local author and journalist

Laura Churchill Duke as she reads from her first novel, Two Crows Sorrow, at the Isabel and Roy Jodrey Memorial Library from 11 a.m. until noon. There will be light refreshmen­ts. Copies of the book, at a cost of $25, will be available.
