Young person arrested after threatenin­g two people with knife in Kingston

A 17-year-old male has been arrested after assaulting two people in Kingston and threatenin­g them with a knife.

According to a news release from the Kings District RCMP, police responded to a call from Bishop Avenue in Kingston at approximat­ely 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 4. The 17-year-old went to the door of a home, grabbed the homeowner, pushed him against a wall and held a knife to his throat. The young person threatened the homeowner before leaving the area on foot.

Another person who had been in the home when the first assault occurred met the young person on the street.

The 17-year-old held a knife to her throat as well and threatened to hurt her. The young person then left the area. Neither of the victims were hurt. The two victims and the accused are known to one another.

Police located the young person in a home on George Street a short time later. He was arrested without incident and has been charged with two counts of uttering threats; two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The 17-year-old appeared in Kentville provincial court on Dec. 4 and was released on conditions. He is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 16.
