RCMP reminding motorists to lock vehicles after multiple Hantsport thefts
As residents find themselves in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Windsor RCMP are reminding motorists that there are some Grinch-like people on the prowl.
Over the Dec. 6-8 weekend, Staff Sgt. Cory Bushell said numerous vehicles in Hantsport were rummaged through.
He said they received four complaints where, “in some cases,
on June 27 and the matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Christopher Manning handed Johnson a 10-month conditional sentence with house arrest for the first four months, to be followed by daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the next four months. Johnson was also sentenced to 12 months of reporting probation. The court imposed a three-year, 10-month firearms prohibition against Johnson and granted a primary DNA order.
Johnson committed the offence in Canning on Oct. 21, 2017.
BREATHALYSER OFFENCE
Loretta Beth Lyons, 54, of Hantsport, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.
Lyons pleaded guilty to the charge on Dec. 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Lyons $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against her.
Lyons committed the offence in Windsor on Oct. 19. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Lyons gave breathalyser readings of 140 and 130.
A charge of operating a conveyance while her ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol was withdrawn on Dec. 10.
BREATHALYSER OFFENCE
Lambert Joseph Roy, 38, of Falmouth, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.
Roy pleaded guilty to the charge on Dec. 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Roy $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.
Roy committed the offence in Ellershouse on Dec. 30, 2018. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of multiple vehicles (were) hit. There were also some vehicles hit in Kings County, which, if reported, would have been reported to (the) Kings County detachment.”
He said the investigation showed the vehicles were entered
blood. Roy gave breathalyser readings of 110 and 100.
CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE, FINES
Jordan Lawrence Barkhouse, 23, of Medford, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault and has been fined for careless or imprudent driving and driving while disqualified.
Barkhouse was originally charged with dangerous driving but pleaded guilty to the lesser, included offence of careless or imprudent driving on Oct. 29. Barkhouse changed his pleas to guilty to the charges of assault and driving while disqualified on Oct. 29. The matters were adjourned to Dec. 11 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared in relation to the assault charge and for sentencing.
Judge Christopher Manning handed Barkhouse a conditional discharge with nine months of reporting probation on the assault charge. Barkhouse was fined a total of $697.50 for careless or imprudent driving and was fined a total of $1,272.50 for driving while disqualified.
Barkhouse committed the offences in Medford and Canning on Feb. 10. Two more counts of assault were dismissed on Dec. 11.
SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR THEFT
Nicole Joyce Gould, 27, of Kingston, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for theft under $5,000.
Gould had originally been charged with stealing lottery tickets of a value exceeding $5,000 from Circle K but pleaded guilty to the lesser, included offence of theft under $5,000 on Oct. 22. The matter was adjourned to Dec. 9 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Christopher Manning handed Gould a suspended sentence with 15 months of probation. The court granted a stand-alone restitution order for $4,999, payable to the Circle K in Greenwood. and items were stolen.
“Police want to remind residents to remove valuables and lock cars when left unattended. This is especially important during the holiday shopping season.”

Gould committed the offence in Greenwood between May 1 and Aug. 1, 2018.
SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR OBSTRUCTION
Jocelyn Marie Caldwell, 34, of Middleton, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for willfully obstructing a police constable engaged in the execution of his duty.
Caldwell changed her plea to guilty on Dec. 10. Judge Christopher Manning handed Caldwell a suspended sentence with eight months of reporting probation.
Caldwell committed the offence in Kingston on Feb. 17.
SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT
Joel David Bosworth, 43, of Hants Border, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.
Bosworth pleaded guilty to the charge on Dec. 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Bosworth a suspended sentence with one year of reporting probation.
Bosworth committed the offence in Hantsport on Nov. 6. A charge of committing mischief by throwing an individual’s clothing out a residence window was withdrawn on Dec. 10.
SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT
Joel Mathew Gibson, 38, of Berwick, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.
Gibson changed his plea to guilty on Dec. 11. Judge Christopher Manning handed Gibson a suspended sentence with 12 months of reporting probation.
Gibson committed the offence in Kingston between April 15 and 28. Charges of possessing a weapon — bear spray — for a purpose dangerous to the public peace and criminal harassment were dismissed on Dec. 11.
CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE FOR ASSAULT
John Duncan MacLeod, 39, of New Cheverie Road, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
MacLeod pleaded guilty to the charge on Nov. 26 and the matter was adjourned to Dec. loose change, but he said the potential existed for thefts of greater value.
The RCMP advise motorists to keep valuables out of sight, keep vehicles locked, park in a well-lit area and report any suspicious activity to the police.

MacLeod committed the offence in Windsor on June 20.
CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE FOR THREAT
Nathan Byron Rudderham,
20, of Forest Home, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for uttering a threat via text message to cause bodily harm to an individual.
Rudderham changed his plea to guilty on Oct. 31 and the matter was adjourned to Dec. 11 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Christopher Manning handed Rudderham a conditional discharge with nine months of reporting probation.
Rudderham committed the offence in Coldbrook on April 25.
UTTERED THREAT, FAILED TO ATTEND COURT
Desiree Autumn Jean States, 24, of Bishopville, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for uttering a threat via text message to cause bodily harm and failing to attend court in accordance with a promise to appear in which she had been named.
States pleaded guilty to the charges on Dec. 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed States a conditional discharge with six months of reporting probation on the two charges.
States committed the offences in Windsor on March 9 and Nov. 26. A charge of failing to attend court in accordance with a summons was withdrawn by the Crown on Dec. 10.
PROBATION OFFENCES
Gregory Ernest McCarthy, 48, of Three Mile Plains, has been fined for two counts of failing to comply with probation by failing to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.
McCarthy pleaded guilty to the charges on Dec. 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined McCarthy $50 on each count, for a total of $100 in fines.
McCarthy committed the offences in Three Mile Plains on Aug. 1 and Sept. 23.
