As everyone waits for the snow to fall on the mountains, Whistler is teasing with its early booking Ski & Stay Packages. Guests can save up to 40 per cent off if they book before Nov. 15. Not only that, but at Whistler Blackcomb kids are free this winter. Children 12 and under stay, ski, rent and transfer free as long as they are with a paying adult. So opening day Nov. 26 just may be the second most anticipated day of the year.

But before that it’s best to leave the kids at home as Whistler hosts Cornucopia, Nov. 5-15.

With a selection of late-night parties, twilight tasting events, aerial artistry, comedy evenings, art throwdowns and lavish fashion, food and champagne events — Cornucopia is geared toward adults.

Here’s a highlight of some of the events:

November 13

Come one, come all to Le Cirque de la Nuit’s VERADEASI — an eccentric instalment joining the late-night lineup at Cornucopia’s ever-evolving food and drink extravaganza. Housed in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler VERADEASI will take the audience on a gripping journey, from feats of hooping, aerial pole, corde lisse, silks, Lyra, dance, acro, belly dancing, contact ball illusion, contortion, juggling and dragon staff manipulation.

November 5

House Party — Best of BC, the boozy beginning to Cornucopia’s 11 block-buster days of food, beer, wine and spirits. Guests are welcomed into ‘our’ house for the best of local talent; indulge in backyard barbecue, homegrown vodka, micro-brewed beer, and local music from B.C.’s land of

plenty.

Wondering where all the locals go? Head to Firerock, where the admission price is $5 including a free drink. For those who prefer scotch over wine, join the Firerock: Scotch & Cigars immersion, November 6.

Watch as eight talented artists will take to the stage to create a painting in just 30 minutes at Garfinkel’s Art Throw Down No. 7. Join in the action where your vote decides who advances to the next round and ultimately takes home the grand prize. All art created is available for purchase through silent auction.

November 12

Comedy Kitchen is a sarcastic, laugh-provoking night of hysterics at Buffalo Bills. The evening will feature headliner Ivan Decker, voted funniest Canadian Comedian under 30, as well as Katie-Ellen Humphries, feature comic whose sensibility falls somewhere between the lockerroom and the library. Recent TV appearances include The Funny Pit (CMT), She Kills Me (APTN) and The Winnipeg Comedy Fest Gala (CBC).

November 14

Revolutions at the Bearfoot Bistro has your favourite DJs spinning little records with a big sound. The party includes snacks, drinks and through the night entertainment.
