ALKALINE GREEN SMOOTHIE

-

Makes: 2 glasses Not all green smoothies are created equal. Most are made with tons of fruit and a token fistful of spinach to turn it greenish. This version contains no fruit although I occasionally add a half cup of frozen blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries. This is my go-to smoothie! — Julie Cove. 3 medium leaves, kale, torn

1/3 cup (75 mL) thick coconut milk

Juice of 1 lime

6-inch (15 cm) piece English cucumber, scrubbed 5 sprigs mint

3 sprigs parsley

1-inch (2.54 cm) piece ginger, scrubbed

1 avocado

1 cup (250 mL) coconut water, or more as needed

2 to 3 drops liquid stevia

1 to 2 tbsp (15 to 30 mL) hemp hearts

1 to 2 tsp (5 to 10 mL) Udo’s 3-6- 9 omega oil 1. Blend the kale with the coconut water and lime juice until smooth. 2. Add the cucumber, herbs, ginger, avocado, coconut milk, stevia and hemp hearts and blend again.

3. Stir in the Udo’s 3-6-9 oil and pulse lightly to combine. Pour into a glass and pretty it up with a sprig of mint or wedge of lime.
