Michael Bublé’s three-year-old son Noah has been diagnosed with cancer, the Burnaby-born singer confirmed Friday in a Facebook post shared with his fans.

Bublé said he and his wife, Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, are devastated by the news and have put their careers on hold as Noah undergoes cancer treatment in the United States.

“We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children,” Bublé posted. “At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing.”

Bublé didn’t say what type of cancer his son has or when he was diagnosed.

According to the Buenos Aires newspaper La Nacion, Lopilato had to travel to the U.S. due to concerns surrounding Noah’s health. It is believed she had been in Buenos Aires with Noah and nine-month-old son Elias. Michael divides his time between Argentina and Burnaby, but is believed to have travelled to the U.S. as soon as Luisana alerted him of Noah’s illness.

This isn’t Noah’s first health battle.

When he was 22 months old, he was admitted to hospital for burns after coming into contact with scalding water. He was taken to hospital Aleman in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for treatment.

After the incident, Luisana posted on Facebook: “Thank you all for joining me even in these moments! My son is very well. God willing soon we will return home.”

The diagnosis comes during a busy time for the multiple Grammy and Juno winner, who recently released the album Nobody But Me.

It was also recently announced that he would be hosting the Brit Awards in February and the Junos in April.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the news would affect his hosting plans.

Noah was born in Vancouver on Aug. 27, 2013. In a June 2014 interview, Buble gushed about the impact his son had on his life.

“I’m better at what I do — way better,” he said. “There’s a fulfilment and a joy that I have in my life that I didn’t have before.

“I was always a happy guy, I always had a good life, but I didn’t know how good it could be. That’s the truth. This kid has brought something to my life that I never knew was there. I didn’t know that kind of love existed. It’s allowed me to be way better at what I do.”
