Many Canadians have been following the twists and turns of one of the most controvers­ial U.S. elections in history. Tonight, raise a glass in celebratio­n — or to drown your sorrows — at one of these election-night viewing parties:

HILLARY VERSUS DONALD AT THE RIO

Costumes. Come dressed in your best pantsuit or best comb-over to the Rio Theatre, which will broadcast CNN on the big screen. Doors open at 9 p.m. Hosted by actor Jacques Lalonde.

BLUE CELEBRATIO­N

The place to go if you’re with her. Democrats Abroad Vancouver hosts this party at The Rogue at Waterfront Station. Sold out, but there’s overflow seating on Burrard Street. First come, first served. Starts at 4 p.m.

TORY YANKEE ELECTION NIGHT VIEWING PARTY

If you lean to the right, head to The Hub on Denman. The Vancouver Centre Conservati­ve Associatio­n promises plenty of good Tory cheer. Starts at 5 p.m.

RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE PARTY

The swankiest party of the lot, complete with a Dixieland band and classic American food, this Fairmont Hotel Vancouver shindig is organized by the American Chamber of Commerce. Tickets cost $120-$150. Starts at 4 p.m.

UBC AND SFU PUBS

Political science majors and thirsty grad students at the University of B.C. can get beer and election results on tap at Koerner’s Pub starting at 5:30 p.m. Over at Simon Fraser University, doors at the Highland Pub open at 11 a.m. for the “Bare Knuckle Showdown.”

PUBS AND BARS

No tickets but don’t want to watch alone? No problem. Chances are, your local watering hole will have their TVs tuned into the presidenti­al race. Here’s three: Doolin’s Irish Pub, the Blarney Stone and Colony on Main Street.
