INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY

UNESCO initiated this global event in 1982 on April 29 to commemorate the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), who is considered to be the founder of modern ballet. The Dance Centre presents everything from the hip-hop street moves of groups such as Project Soul to bhangra, contemporary dance and more at various venues around town. One of the most popular has been the Robson Square Salsa (1:30 to 4:30 p.m.), which includes a demo, lesson and chance to shake your own groove thing.
