One man has died and a woman is in serious condition following an early Monday morning shooting in south Surrey.

Surrey RCMP were first called to the 14300-block of Crescent Road around 2 a.m. Monday where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was treated at the scene but did not survive.

Around the same time, police also received a call from a woman who had also been shot at that location but who had been able to drive herself away from the scene. The woman has been taken to hospital and remains in serious condition.

Shortly after, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was brought in. Investigators remained on scene throughout the morning to speak with witnesses and neighbours.

No further information has been released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222TIPS.

A short time after the shooting was reported in Surrey, a vehicle was found abandoned and set on fire in Langley.

“I can confirm that the Langley RCMP is presently on the scene of an early morning vehicle fire in the area of 8500 204 Street,” said Cpl. Craig van Herk in an emailed statement Monday morning.

It is unknown whether the vehicle fire is connected to the Surrey shooting Monday morning or another shooting incident in Langley a day earlier.

On Sunday around 3:45 a.m., Langley RCMP also received calls about possible gunfire. There were no injuries in that incident and police have not said whether it was a targeted incident against the residents at that location.
